She came to us: our little bundle of joy!

Zoey Tresa came Monday at 12:15pm to her proud parents Justin and Lindsey!! We can not be more excited about her being here!! I have been blessed is so many ways and I can't believe how she continues to bless our life! She is our new everything now!
It's interesting when friends and others will find out that you are having your first baby. They tell you the ins and outs of everything which trust me is a big help!! But for me and my situation, nothing was "typical" about having this little one.
I never had morning sickness. Sure I felt nauseated in the morning but cereal always satisfied me enough to where I could take my prenatal and call it good for the day. I didn't have any other pregnancy complications and delivery with your first is supposed to the hardest and worst, especially without an epidural but let me tell you, my OB was very stocked and surprised with how everything turned out. Justin likes to put it like this: he is a football coach, I was the freshman that got to start varsity and the coach is so excited that I was listening and taking pointers and that in the end I had scored big enough to prove myself to start for the next game. It was such an amazing/joyful/hard/loving process and of course it is all worth it in the end since as we speak I am curled up under my new little baby girl and she is sound asleep on my chest. I love being a mom! Everything about these moments and feelings are worth every minute of everyday for the rest of my life!! Everything went amazing and I love her more than words can describe. We really feel more like a family with her here. Thank you Heavenly Father for this amazing blessing and allowing me to be her mother.

Birth Story:
I started having contraction April 7th, Sunday, at 11:30pm.  At the time I honestly just felt like I was ridiculously constipated. I felt like I had to worst stomach ache and nothing was happening.  I laughed when Justin told me that maybe I was having contractions. (little did I know) I was able to catch some sleep in between my 45 minute apart contractions which was nice but around 5am is when they were about 15 minutes apart so I thought maybe I'd get up and take a nice shower and get cleaned off in case I ended up delivering that day.  Sure enough, by the time I was done with my shower and had brushed my hair my contractions were about 8 minutes apart.  We grabbed our bags and within that time the contractions became closer together (4 minutes apart) and within our little drive to the hospital I was about 2.5 minutes apart.  Kind of great but scary at the same time. :)  We were finally admitted at 6am and I was so excited and nervous that I got to see my baby girl a whole week early then planned :)  Contractions were a BEAST!! Yikes! I decided that I wanted to go natural, which ended up being a perfect choice for me. I felt the need to punch someone in the face or nuts every time one came but I lived through it.  I was doing really well with breathing but my pain caught up to me and I felt like I was just trying to recover from the last contraction before another one came on and it was a lot. I was stuck. and stuck and stuck at a dilation of 5 for what seemed like quite a while.  I finally looked at Justin as just begged him for something.  ANYTHING!! I had given into my pain.  Instead of an epidural, I was given a quick on quick off 30 minute drug called phenol (I think that's how you spell it). That was just what my body needed.  My pelvic area was FINALLY able to relax just enough that in 12 minutes I was at a big ole 9 centimeters! :) They called my O.B. who was graciously able to leave his home gym to come and deliver my baby. (Literally I had the greatest O.B. EVER!)  He came running in, still sweaty from his workout and I was check and then we let the games continue.  I pushed 10 times and I heard her cry for the first time! That moment was the moment I truly felt like a mom.  This amazing child was sent to Justin and I to raise as our own and to love and cherish every moment of her life.  My heart melted. The moment They laid her tiny body on my chest she stopped crying.  The bond that I had felt with her for the 10 months of pregnancy was magnified by a million plus and she just knew that I was there for her. She was 6 lbs 8 oz, 19 inches long :) and was born at exactly 12:15 in the afternoon. She was ours for the taking!

Everything ever said about how hard, wonderful, painful, joyful, and spiritual giving birth to a child is true.  Also, it's 100% worth every amount of effort! We love our Zoey! xoxo

The counting down has already began.

I cannot tell you how mixed my emotions are right now. I am so nervous and anxious but so incredibly happy and excited to become a mom in 5 weeks and 4 days! Yikes! This show will be kids raising a kid, that's for sure.
We just moved to a new apartment so that we could have two bedrooms and it becomes more real everyday. Before you and even myself know it there is going to be a beautiful little baby girl named Zoey living in our house who will become dependent on me as her mom and Justin as her dad. See why I'm so nervous but excited??
She is now as big as a pineapple (according to my app) and its all just crazy. Crazy crazy crazy!!! With the next few things I have to check off my list I'm sure hoping it helps with my nerves.
I have 2 baby showers next week up in Northern Utah and the following week I will have one in St. George and one in Cedar city. With gifts for the little one, I don't know how realistic it is to say that my nerves will calm down at all.
Other then that, before she gets here I have to finish my semester of school. Mind you, she is due 2 weeks before finals week so I now will get to finish classes two weeks before my classmates which is such a blessing to receive help from teachers but can also have some downsides, again with my nerves. So my spring break goal is to finish school basically.
Last but not least, and this is the most most mostest exciting part for me. It is decorating her room. :) She already has most of the big equipment she'll need like a crib and such but I am so excited to add splashes of color and patters and ribbons and fabric in places to make her feel just right at home. Not that she will really notice until she is older, but hey, it's the thought that counts. And pictures will be more important right?
Any who, I will quit my rambling. Just thought an update would be nice for you all who read our blog.

Love you all!

Teeth, stomach, neck/head: Baby is okay.

This past couple if weeks (1.25.13) has been interesting. Never in my life have I needed to go see more doctors, been to Walgreens more then once a couple times a year to pick up prescriptions let alone go 4 times in a single week. It has seemed so crazy. Now I know people go through a lot more then I have throughout a month than what I have my entire life, I'm not comparable to cancer patients or someone with a chronic illness but this seemed big for me because of how very few times in my life I've actually had to go see the doctor.

It all started a couple of weeks ago when my jaw started acting up again. I have TMJ so it happens every once in a while but not like this... For some reason this was worse than any time before. I heated and iced and rubbed and did everything I could to help my jaw and come to find out I have a super tiny cavity that is such a spot that this little cavity buddy I had made, decided to kill off my whole tooth... The dentist seemed to miss that in the 10 different x-rays he took. Silly him. :) lol Once I was able to get the huge infection out of my gums I was able to be pain free and my root canal is scheduled to this coming Wednesday! (2.13.13) and to add just a bit more to my situation, I can't lie on my back for to long (pregnancy) so it will be interesting to see how long this will take.

Next on the list is this past week on Wednesday I started to experience what is called Vertigo. It's dizziness but rather me feeling faint, literally everything moves.. It's a very strange sensation to experience. That became worse and worse as the days went on and I thought I was experiencing normal dizziness so I was making sure to stay hydrated and was on top of eating every couple of hours because I was thinking it was linked to pregnancy. In truth, it was not and ended up being Vertigo which mine was caused by the crystals in the ear that help you balance. Mine decided to take diving and swimming lessons so now still as of today I'm just waiting for them to settle and find land. (haha I'm funny sometimes :])
At the beginning of this starting I thought I was doing well with eating and staying hydrated so that when my doctor prescribed me something to help with the dizziness I was hopeful. Instead of taking the pill and seeing signs of relief I threw up almost exactly 10 minutes after taking it. I threw up, threw up again and then some more and more until the morning of the following day all I had left in me was stomach fluids and even that was coming up too so Justin and I took a trip to the hospital where I was hooked to an I.V. and told that I was so dehydrated that I had nothing but key tones in my urine. (Medical people, I'm assuming you'll understand how bad it was and I'm assuming that it was bad because of how shocked her face was when the nurse told me.) The I.V. and I were friends for a good 6 hours and it was such a great thing. :) I brought so much relief from that it was a beautiful experience and it was hard to say goodbye. I from there was given another prescribed medication and was sent home. I recovered really well and the only down said was that Super Bowl Sunday was the following day and all the food was not eaten by me... It was sad.
Now that I was and am finally eating solids and am on a regular diet I still am experiencing Vertigo. So i called my doctor and told him that the symptoms have not yet died down at all so he sent me to a family doctor who then prescribed me with another dizziness pill and sent me to go see a specialist who couldn't schedule me in until the end of this month and the Vertigo will likely stop by then (hopefully).

To sum up this story, Justin is a wonderful husband who did everything in his power to help take care of me. We have great family and friends who were there for me when Justin had to go to work while I recovered. I took a total of 1, 2, .. 5 different types of prescribed medication in a month and the only reason that is a big deal to me is because that is the most I have had happen to be in the span of 3 weeks in my I entire life.
Zoey was a champ through it all and whenever they were worried about her they would hook me up to a monitor and see that she was still kicking (literally bladder, ribs, stomach, lungs, sometimes even my face it feels like) and I'm so glad and blessed that she continues to be wonderfully healthy and strong especially throughout my whole past couple weeks

I'm grateful, humble, blessed, loved and cared for.

My how times flies...

Our little girl will be here in 74 days! and yes, I did just count the days!! Wow! It seems like all the weeks have come and gone and now I'm sitting her and it's almost the first of February.  Yikes!

Recent News:: My parents and my 2 youngest siblings moved down to Santa Clara where my dad found a new job and I can't tell you how fun it has been to have family so close.  We have almost spent every weekend there it seems like.

Justin is taking 19 credits this semester and boy oh boy is he busy.  Most of our time together is when we are about to go to sleep or I get to sit next to him and he'll read and teach me everything he is learning in his classes.  This is such a big load, but after this crazy semester he only has a total of 24 credits left until he receives his bachelors of science and then we are off to physical therapy school!! :)  He recently was hired on to Chrysalis which, as a lot of you know, is like a watch center for handicap and disabled men and women.  He will start this shortly and I hope it fits right in with his pretty full schedule.

I am only taking 7 credits... pathetic right? hahaha In my defense, I could only find 3 teachers who were willing to work with me because I am due 2 weeks before finals week.  So none of these teachers have a test during finals week and if they have a final assignment or something they are letting me turn it in early and won't penalize me if I go into labor sooner then what is expected.  The small load has been nice since I have had the chance to pick up more work hours and it hasn't become overwhelming at all which has been very nice for me. :) I'm trying to stay stress free:goal:

Zoey has been so spoiled and she doesn't even know it yet.  This little girl is the first granddaughter and niece on both sides of the family so I think it's fair to assume that it may only get worse once she gets here.
Grandma and Grandpa Wall gave her a blanket, and a very cute carters outfit and a car seat and stroller are on the way also.  (best grandparents any child could ask for)
Uncle Shawn got her some candy smokes and a binky that has buck teeth on the front to make her look like a hillbilly.- in honors of her father I'm assuming.
Great grandma & grandpa Adamson got her two different outfits (onsies) to wear. pink and teal. They are really cute.
Aunt Jana and Uncle Spencer got her two of the cutest little headbands.  one pink and one that is white: lace with a flower :)
Her Daddy got her 2 pairs of Nike booties, baby fingernail clippers with a file, a small bath tube, a Winne the Pooh piggy bank, little baby hangers, a crib and a changing table. a bright pink and orange giraffe blanket.
Friend from work got her her first sippy cup with her name on it in sparkle letters.
I have 2 baby showers set up at this point so I'm sure more items will come her way-Spoiled right??

One of the biggest gifts that she received was 5 garbage bags FULL of clothes!!
Our friends Sifa and Toni gave us soooo many clothes.  She has clothes from 0-24 months old.  They are so stinking cute!! I will post some pictures of some of my favorites on her page. SPOILED!! :) -but she really needs and deserves it so I don't mind it at all.

We attended our first pregnancy class at the hospital last week on Wednesday.  This is a six week course and so far it seems to be very informational.  We toured the hospital in the labor/delivery and recovery rooms which was really nice to look and see where I will be when I go into labor.  Calmed me a lot. :)

She kicks and stretches and moves all the time.  I love it :)

That's all from us for now! Loveyouall.

Grandma Hansen

This Christmas season was simply more beautiful than it has ever been.  This may seem a bit odd to say this at first but my Christmas season became the perfect Christmas season when my Grandma Hansen passed away yesterday.  There are many reasons for me claiming this to be perfect and I hope you will be able to read this and understand why and if not, please just try to be open to my thoughts.

December 25, 2012
Christmas day Justin and I called my parents to wish them a Merry Christmas and before we hung up the phone my dad told us that my grandma had slipped and fallen and "broke" the tube in her back that was allowing her to function in this life with as little pain as possible but image a tube in your back, dripping fluid, you couldn't escape a whole lot of pain but that just goes to show you there that my grandma was and still is a fighter.  We were told she seemed to be doing okay, but this wasn't the best condition she could be in at her age and with the amount pain her body had already been through it didn't look to promising.

December 26, 2012
The next day was kind of just a wait to hear something.  Anything really.  Justin and I were driving to go see Les Mis when I get a call from my mom saying that grandma had a stroke and was unable to talk was unconscious.  Hearing my mom say this brought quiet a lot of joy to me only because time and time again my grandma would always joke, but seriously joke, about how she would like to die she would like to become unconscious have a stroke and die.  My mom then said that they unhooked her from everything (hearing in my grandmas voice "No heroic measures will anyone go to to save my life, just let me die") and that it could be a quick passing or it could take a couple of days before her body finally quits working.  We continued on into the movie theater and sat down.

To any of you who have seen Les Mis keep reading, if you haven't and don't want me to spoil it even though hopefully most of you know how it ends.  Jean Valjean is old, and leaves Cosette's wedding to die.  He is met by Cosette's mother, (met by a family memeber/loved one) Fantine who has already die and is there to help bring him to the other side.  As this scene continues Jean Valjean "spirit" has been lifted out of his body can hear the spirits on the other side greet him in song, "Do You Hear the People." (hearing angels sing and rejoice the homecoming of Phyllis Millar Hansen and listening to the words of that song and how true it is to come home and listen to the people on the other side sing to you about the fight that we had here on earth) [here] He walks down the brick sidewalk and he is greeted by the father of the catholic church (Meeting Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ) then is taken to the other side where he is met by Fantine again, and all then young men (Grandma seeing all the rest of her family and friends) who fought for their rights.  Where I have inserted the work [here] is where I read the text saying that my grandmother had passed away.  Now go back and read this and correlate it in a religion sense.

I cannot not tell you how amazing that experience was and still is to me.  Being able to steer away from being sad that she has passed and simply being fill with love and joy as I try to image this Les Mis experience that grandma just went through.

Life changing for me.

The best part, really the best part is that December 26th is her birthday.  Happy Birthday Grandma! I'm sure you got the best birthday gift you could have asked for.

Thank you Grandma for being such a strong, loving, giving, special woman in my life.  You have been a beautiful example and I am proud to call you my grandma.  I love you always, and I can't wait to see your face again.
